War Correspondent's Creed....

The War Correspondent’s Creed

This is my videophone. There are many like it, but this one is MINE. My videophone is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.

My videophone without me is useless. Without my videophone, I am useless. I must use my videophone well. I must broadcast faster than my enemy who is trying to jam my signal. I must scoop him before he scoops me.

I will...

My videophone and myself know that what counts in war are not the words we fire, the length of our reports, nor the deadlines we make. We know it is the ratings that count.

We will report...

My videophone is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strengths, its circuits, its technology, its range, and its signal. I will ever guard it against the ravages of weather and damage. I will keep my videophone charged and ready, even as I am charged and ready. We will become part of each other.

We will...

Before God I swear this creed. My videophone and myself are the war correspondents of our country. We are the reporters of combat action. We are the story of a lifetime.

So be it, until there is no war to report on....
